How to create a Festival Wedding

February 4, 2017

A festival wedding is one of the coolest themes out there – it’s fun, unique and overflowing with personality. If you love the sound of creating your very own festival wedding, fondly known as a ‘Wedfest’, we suggest you keep reading…

How To Create A Festival Wedding

If you’re day-dreaming about having a festival wedding, an outdoor setting may be your first choice of venue. What could be more magical than saying ‘I Do’ surrounded by fields, meadows and views that seem to go on forever? We love the idea of providing hay bales with cosy blankets on as alternative ceremony seating for your wedding guests. They can also be used during your reception for your guests to sit down and have a chat on. While planning an outdoor wedding may sound like a glorious option for a sizzling Summer festival wedding, they take huge amounts of preparation and planning. You’ll need to think about logistics such as toilets, flooring and lighting. If you need a festival wedding planner, Illy Elizabeth Weddings will be on hand to guide you through the process. So you can have your festival wedding theme, without any of the stress!

So you’ve found the perfect wedding venue, but now you’re stuck for ideas on how to decorate it. Opt for colourful bunting, huge light up letters and an abundance of flowers. You really want your guests to feel like they’ve stepped into their very own festival, so make you decorate your venue wisely.

Speaking of your wedding venue decor, let’s take a look at how we can style your guest tables. Whether you’re having your reception in a rustic tipi or a gorgeous country barn, your tables will really set the scene. We think a hessian or burlap runner makes the perfect base for your centrepieces. Opt for weathered wooden tree slices adorned with jars full of pretty blooms and tea-lights. Your wedding florist will be able to guide you on which flowers are in season, and they’ll be able to find a style that is perfect for this theme.

A vintage truck, tractor or car makes for the perfect wedding getaway transport. Add a festival vibe to it by loading it with hay bales and personalised wooden signage. It’ll also make for some fabulous wedding photography opportunities.

A festival wedding just wouldn’t be complete without a bridal flower crown. The bigger and more colourful the blooms, the better! Why not create smaller versions for your bridesmaids or flower-girls? Keep your aisle style simple and relaxed with a dash of boho. A pair of cute flip-flops will probably be more practical for this wedding theme than bridal heels, especially if you’re spending the day celebrating outdoors. When it comes to the groom’s outfit, a simple white shirt teamed with a tweed waistcoat will look wonderfully rustic. A casual pair of chinos and some smart brogues will finish the look off perfectly – there’s no need for a tie.

As you can see, it’s incredibly easy to pull off a festival theme and it makes for a fabulous celebration. Plus, it’s a good excuse to hit a few festivals this Summer for some inspiration! Illy Elizabeth Weddings, a Sussex wedding planning service, will be able to bring your visions to life.
