Dreamland Margate Venue with Pastel Palettes

Hello lovelies, today I am so excited to finally share with you the editorial we did at Dreamland Margate Venue with Pastel Palettes in Kent. We were fortunate enough to be able to create something spectacular at the Kent Wedding Venue last year due to the well known theme park keeping it's doors closed. With any wedding concept it is important the the colours and theme reflect the venue. Being a theme park we wanted to ensure it was kept elegant, modern but with a fun colour twist. So here will share all the exciting details on how you can recreate this pastel wedding look.

The Concept

To be perfectly honest with you, the whole idea for the shoot came from Pearce Wedding Photography deciding that we had to shoot in Dreamland Margate, our childhood memories came from there, as did everyones who lived in Kent. So when we finally got the approval I put my headphones in (music is always an inspiration) and started to make magic happen on Pinterest. With that, I also went onto instagram and put in #dreamlandmargate and it gave me exactly what I wanted. The best shots that people had taken at the venue when it was open, it gave me visibility over the colourful slide as pictured above. I had to use this as basis for the concept, so I decided to go with pastels.

When it comes to picking a concept for any wedding I either choose to pick an object or colour and base it off that. The ideas come naturally and it becomes very easy to start pulling a complete concept together. I needed props, good ones, so I brought Leah from Boho and Bloom Prop Hire onboard to help with styling. She had a beautiful cinema pastel seating that we had to use as an additional setup, then Leah came up with the insane idea of a ruffle wall. I was all over this! I'd seen them on instagram and Pinterest, they looked incredible and I couldn't wait to put it into the design for the Dreamland Margate Wedding Venue.

The Florals

I had already seen dried florals mixed with fresh as a modern wedding trend on instagram. I was fortunate enough to come across the talented Charlotte from Star + The Rose. A newcomer to the wedding industry and an absolute talent at that. I was so excited when she was onboard with the concept, she couldn't wait to create something spectacular for our Dreamland Wedding and she certainly delivered. We had the main floral setup near the slide, florals for our main table and florals inside. We needed the bouquet big and Charlotte certainly gave that to us. The florals were fresh, modern, pastel and oh so romantic.

The Table Setting

The pastel table setting at Dreamland Margate was absolutely dreamy. The feeling when myself and Leah dressed the table and the florals finally went on, we could not stop smiling and were super excited for James to shoot the setup. We went for bohemian chargers, a pink velvet runner, gold candlestick holders and pink candlesticks to give more colour to the table. We added tiny floral blue cuttings to the napkins which paired with the gold cutlery really well. This bohemian place setting was one that we fell in love with at Dreamland Margate.

The Couple

We wanted to style our bride with a more 50's cool yet modern theme. Sounds complex right? Well what we mean by that is we wanted the big white cat-eye shades, we wanted the curled hair and glitzy wedding dress. So that's what we did, we added some pearl features which included a pearl headband and pearl earrings. Our groom we chose to have a more relaxed modern look, an open button shirt, with a smart belt and shades. Too often grooms will be dressed up in a tux, we want to show that you really don't need that to look smart at any wedding.

The Ruffle Wall

Full credits have to go to Leah from Boho and Bloom for this ruffle wall, completely designed by herself especially for the shoot and we just fell in love with this setup. We arranged the florals to be positioned either side to create a full backdrop that could fit any ceremony at Dreamland Margate.

We have since successfully been published in a few different publications and we couldn't be happier with the outcome and the hard work all the team members put in. We made something truly inspirational, different, yet not too complex that couples can't recreate this with the help of us of course!
