Afternoon Tea for your Wedding Breakfast

One of my personal favourites, yet a completely British tradition is an afternoon tea. Three course sit down meals can sometimes be so filling, especially when the wine is flowing. How many couples even eat their whole three courses on their wedding day? Heres our blog on choosing something a little different for your guests whilst keeping everything elegant.

Afternoon Tea

There are many caterers out there that will happily arrange an afternoon tea option for your wedding breakfast. You've got to make it extra special however as it will be a day you will never forget. Always ensure you go to a wedding planner for advice on which caterers are best to use, so you know you've got a trusted supplier.

Go elegant with some champagne options, served in gorgeous champagne flutes matching your wedding theme. There are plenty of crockery hire companies out there that can offer something extra special for your guests. Hire in some white bone china cake stands with a gold rimmed feature that can be delivered to your guests tables.

Afternoon Tea always works best with layers, start from the bottom with exquisite finger sandwiches. Possibly a fresh smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich topped with red caviar? Or how about some classic egg mayonnaise sandwiches wrapped in chives? The possibilities are endless. After that, your second layer may contain some completely British freshly baked fruit scones. Cut in half, with a layer of fresh clotted cream and an apricot jam. That all important last layer however could contain some pink rhubarb shortcakes or, chocolate eclairs topped with gold leaf details. Absolutely delicious and exquisite.

You can ask your caterer what tea might be good to compliment the afternoon tea for your guests. Perhaps a traditional English breakfast tea? Or go wild and opt for Jasmine Pearls.

If you're having your wedding in a country house this would truly make the perfect afternoon for your wedding day guests. Be sure to add some fresh floral arrangements into the mix and allow people to have a more relaxed wedding breakfast. It really will make your country house wedding even more British than it already is!
